Sophie Sherry is a public safety reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times. She joined the paper in 2020 as an overnight breaking news reporter. She is a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Michigan.

A bill in the General Assembly would give police the authority to immediately remove a gun after a protection order is issued and would give them 48 hours to do it.
