Man charged in Near North Side fatal shooting

A man is facing first-degree murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed a man Saturday morning on the Near North Side, Chicago police said.

The 46-year-old victim was inside a car about 9:45 a.m. in the 800 block of North Cambridge Avenue when someone fired shots, striking him in his back, Chicago police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Obbie Sanders, 49, of South Chicago, was arrested about 30 minutes after the shooting on the East Wacker Drive ramp, police say.

Sanders is due in court Tuesday.
