CHICAGO (November 12, 2024) – Chicago Public Media (CPM) today announced the hiring of Drew Brody as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective today. Brody brings a wealth of experience in strategic leadership, operational management, business innovation and team-building to CPM, where he will work to enhance organizational communication, streamline decision-making, and support CPM’s ambitious growth and community initiatives.
Brody joins CPM from TRU Staffing Partners, Inc., a staffing company in the data privacy, e-discovery and cybersecurity space, where he spent more than a decade in a dual CFO/COO role. Throughout his tenure, Brody helped the company scale from a small startup into a thriving industry player, recognized five times as one of Inc.’s 5000 Fastest-Growing Companies.
Brody’s career also includes leadership in content development at The Princeton Review, where he spearheaded educational content, developed innovative training programs, and launched the popular podcast LSAT Logic in Everyday Life, which connected LSAT concepts with real-world issues.
“We are thrilled to welcome Drew to the team,” said Melissa Bell, CEO of CPM. “He is a proven leader and visionary who will bring fresh perspectives and creative solutions to our organization. Drew’s insights and energy will be invaluable as we continue to expand our reach and impact.”
Brody is not only an accomplished executive but also an artist with off-Broadway and Broadway musical credits. He founded Songbyrd, a nonprofit supporting emerging musical theater composers.
His deep-rooted ties to Chicago began in Wilmette, where he grew up and graduated from New Trier High School. A graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, he will split his time between Chicago and New York, where he and his husband co-own the Bowery Princes art gallery.
