Join the Illinois Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) at the Out of the Darkness Chicagoland Walk at 9:00 a.m CT on September 14.

When: Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CT
Where: Montrose Harbor (601 W. Montrose Ave.)
Admission: No registration fee to participate

The Chicagoland Walk is a 3-mile walk taking place at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum to participate, however, we do encourage you to set a $150 fundraising goal to help support AFSP’s work to stop suicide and so you can receive the official Out of the Darkness Chicagoland Walk t-shirt.

Teams are welcome so invite your family, friends and colleagues and create a walk team. Funds raised allows AFSP to invest in life-saving research, education, advocacy and support for those impacted by suicide.

Shaniqua Kinnard, 30, was found unresponsive around 8:10 a.m. Friday in the 13000 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, according to Chicago police.
A man and woman were arguing around 1:05 a.m. in the 8100 block of South Prairie Park Place when she heard a “loud noise suspected to be gunfire,” police said.
The boy, 16, was outside in the 300 block of West Jackson Boulevard at 10:11 p.m. when he was shot multiple times in the legs, police said.
The boy was walking outside just after midnight in the 6400 block of South King Drive when he was struck in the groin by gunfire, Chicago police said.
